Iris recognition has over the years emerged as one of the most accurate biometric techniques as opposed to other biometric techniques like face, signature and fingerprint. First, the iris image is pre processed using canny edge detector using a Gaussian filter. The iris edge and the pupil edge are extracted using image morphological operation, image opening. After normalization of red, green and blue components of the colour iris using Euclidean distance method, they are combined to form the localized colour iris. For feature vectors extraction, orthogonal transforms like discrete cosine transform, discrete sine transform and discrete Fourier transform have been considered. The proposed iris recognition system is very time efficient and it takes less than 1 second to grant authentication. A novel biorthogonal wavelet network system for off-angle iris recognition

One important category of non-ideal conditions for iris recognition is off-angle iris images. Practically it is very difficult for images to be captured with no offset. It then becomes necessary to account for off angle information in order to maintain robust performance. A bi-orthogonal wavelet based iris recognition system, previously designed at our lab, is modified and demonstrated to perfo...

Performance Comparison of Cosine, Walsh, Haar, Kekre and Hartley Transforms for Iris Recognition using Fractional Energies of the Transformed Iris Images

This paper presents a novel Iris feature extraction technique using fractional energies of transformed iris image. To generate image transforms various transforms like Cosine, Walsh, Haar, Kekre and Hartley transforms are used. The above transforms are applied on the iris images to obtain transformed iris images. From these transformed Iris images, feature vectors are extracted by taking the ad...

Iris Recognition Using Ridgelets

Image feature extraction is one of the basic works for biometric analysis. This paper presents the novel concept of application of ridgelets for iris recognition systems. Ridgelet transforms are the combination of Radon transforms and Wavelet transforms. They are suitable for extracting the abundantly present textural data that is in an iris. The technique proposed here uses the ridgelets to fo...

A Phase-Based Iris Recognition Algorithm

This paper presents an efficient algorithm for iris recognition using phase-based image matching. The use of phase components in twodimensional discrete Fourier transforms of iris images makes possible to achieve highly robust iris recognition with a simple matching algorithm. Experimental evaluation using the CASIA iris image database (ver. 1.0 and ver. 2.0) clearly demonstrates an efficient p...
